VidCon 2026 returned to Anaheim with a mix of celebration, nostalgia, and noticeable change. While this year’s convention looked a little different from what longtime attendees may be used to, there were still standout moments that reminded everyone why VidCon continues to hold such an important place in internet culture.

One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was the second annual VidCon Hall of Fame induction. Following last year’s inaugural class, the 2026 honorees proved just as impactful and deserving. This year’s inductees included Markiplier, Cassey Ho, Michelle Phan, and Philip DeFranco, all creators who helped shape the digital landscape in their own distinct ways.
From Markiplier’s lasting influence in gaming and philanthropy, to Cassey Ho’s fitness empire that empowered millions, to Michelle Phan’s role as one of the original beauty pioneers on YouTube, and Philip DeFranco’s decades-long commitment to news and commentary, each inductee represents a different era and evolution of online content. Their speeches reflected not only their personal journeys, but also the growth of the creator industry as a whole, offering both heartfelt gratitude and thoughtful insight into what it means to build a lasting connection with an audience.

The weekend also featured a lineup of performances and appearances during the opening and Hall of Fame ceremonies hosted by LonnieIIV, and included a little bit of a diss rap from the oh so iconic,
Mikey Angelo, and performances by Jmancurly, Merrick Hanna, Aaron Burriss, Alex and Andrew Wassabi, McKenzi Brooke, Unsighted, Andra Gogan, and JYT. These moments helped set the tone for the weekend and brought together a wide range of creators and attendees across different niches.

That said, this year’s convention floor felt noticeably different. Compared to previous years, there were fewer interactive activations and brand experiences, which left parts of the expo hall feeling more sparse than expected. Much of the space was dedicated to merchandise vendors, with only a handful of standout areas breaking things up. One of the more engaging additions was the inclusion of basketball and pickleball courts, where attendees could watch their favorite creators compete in a more casual, interactive setting. A particularly fun moment included a pickleball match featuring AmarieByTheSea of Style Theory and LittleRemyFoods as a team, drawing a lively crowd and adding some energy to the weekend.

Another bright spot that a lot of attendees looked forward to was the Korean beauty village, “Millions Seoul,” which was by far a fan favorite. Attendees had the chance to explore a variety of skincare brands, win samples, and even walk away with full-size products. It was one of the few areas that truly felt immersive and aligned with the kind of hands-on experiences VidCon is known for. The YouTube Creator Lounge also offered a space for creators to unwind, play games, and win small prizes. While the concept was fun and appreciated, the heavy emphasis on AI-generated content demonstrations felt slightly out of place for some attendees, and people who pride themselves in being creative and creating authentic content. This sentiment carried into the broader event as well, with one of the primary sponsors being an AI platform that encouraged creators to use automated tools to interact with their audiences. For many, this raised questions about the balance between innovation and the authenticity that originally defined the creator community.

Beyond the main stage, we had the opportunity to sit down with three incredible creators: Peet Montzingo, GloZell, and DangMattSmith. Each conversation brought something unique, from humor and storytelling to reflections on longevity and staying authentic in an ever-changing digital space. You can check out our full interviews to hear directly from these legendary creators and, of course, see what tea we spilled with all of them! These are the very first video interviews for CH3RRi Tea, and we feel so honored to have been given a moment with each of them.

Overall, VidCon 2026 felt like a year of transition. While some elements may have missed the mark compared to previous years, the heart of the event, celebrating creators and the communities they build, was still present. The Hall of Fame ceremony, creator conversations, and a few standout activations proved that even in a changing landscape, the impact of digital creators remains stronger than ever.
As the convention continues to evolve from it’s original days, and with an ever expanding demographic, it will be interesting to see how future years balance innovation with the immersive, community-driven experiences that attendees have come to expect. Until then, we’ll be here waiting to CH3RR the Tea with yall.
